Alan Parker

He makes musicals and somewhat boring movies, sometimes both at the same time.

The Wall (1982) -- A little more annoyingly crazy than the album itself, the movie is kind of interesting to look at once or twice, but ultimately not all that great, though some of the music is nice. C

The Commitments (1991) -- I didn't like it as much as everyone else did, not even the music. It's not bad, but not great. C

The Road To Wellville (1994) -- A movie which proves that great actors doesn't necessarily make great movies. Just horrible all around. F

Evita (1996) -- This should have been better, though I don't have any suggestions for how. Maybe more like a musical, less like a movie? It does sort of look like a movie which happens to have music, which might be an interesting idea, but one which doesn't quite work. Antonio is the best. Madonna does okay, but gets boring after a while and seems to be going through some sort of motions, even as much as she wanted the part. The music saves everything, of course: it being one of the better Webber musicals. B
