Director of L.A. Story and some well-known, but average, movies.
L.A. Confidential (1997) -- Slick (in a good way) movie aided by a really good cast, especially Kevin Spacey. The best scenes are the violent ones, lots of good punching. There's also an old-fashioned shoot-out near the end. Not as spectacular as everyone made it out to be at the time, but nice stuff. B
Wonder Boys (2000) -- Likeable cast to be sure, but in the end just another boring movie about a writer/professor and his writer's block. C
