Pi (1998) -- Often movies that are obsessed with numbers, codes, drugs,
religious mysteries, dirty urbanity, and many other elements that make up this
movie annoy me--but this one didn't. It manages to stay interesting even
with the potentially-dumb (but not dumb) twists it takes. The gritty black
and white looks good and the soundtrack keeps thumping you along.
