F.W. Murnau

German master of silent cinema.

Nosferatu (1922) -- They changed the names of all the characters, but this is Bram Stoker's Dracula essentially. But it's not the one we're most used to today from 1931's Universal movie, with Bela Legosi and the cape and all. This one is a sort of rat-like creepy creep vampire who is repulsive instead of seductive. The silent movie is still pretty entertaining and moody, even for modern audiences. B
