Liev Schreiber

Actor who adapted and directed Everything Is Illuminated.

Don't Like It Everything Is Illuminated (2005) -- The movie begins with a good amount of quirk (using a pretty good soundtrack), even if the jokes are typical (fish out of water, etc.), but then goes right into sentimental slop for something that's supposed to be horrific.  Bad tones set throughout, and the movie is really just Liev Schreiber setting up too-mannered shots with Elijah Wood (the actor and the character he's playing) being even more mannered than that: big glasses, dark neat suit, careful delivery of speech, "literary" trick of obsessing over objects (the movie was based on a novel), political correctness... like Wes Anderson becoming worse than he already is.  Basically a typical movie with a young dumb hipster aesthetic.
