Rebel Without a Cause (1955) -- One of the first of these teen rebellion "parents just don't understand" movies, and still one of the best.  James Dean is cool as the recently-dead-in-real-life hero (young, handsome, and dead will always equal cool), Natalie Woods struts her stuff around, and Sal Mineo is everyone's favorite fifth wheel hero worshipper.  And let's not forget Jim Backus and Dennis Hopper.  The movie is both screamy (similar to the Angry Young Man stuff in England) and subtle (dealing with tiny moments and problems like you'd find in a short story).
