Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) -- Where Superman III wasn't that great and was very silly, Superman IV is just ridiculous.  The script was apparently written by an eight-year-old and is dumb even for a comic book story.  World leaders eagerly agree to get rid of nuclear weapons, Mariel Hemingway floats around in space, Clarke Kent and Superman attempt to go on a double-date, and Nuclear Man is... Nuclear Man.  Though they tried to make this one more serious by losing lots of the comedy, they only replaced it with boring crap and bad effects.  The only good thing about this movie is that they didn't insist on it being over two hours long like the other ones.  A bad end to the Christopher Reeve series of Superman movies--though none of them were that great to begin with.  (See Richard Lester for the predecessor, Superman III.  See Bryan Singer for the sequel, Superman Returns.)  D
