Suggested First Purchase: Colossal Youth
Colossal Youth (1979) -- A pretty cool little album, especially considering it came from 1979 and sounds like something that wouldn't even have been made yet (except for all the things it inspired, and still not quite). The original version was 15 songs, and probably worked better that way, since the idea of the album is to be as minimal as possible, and since some of the additions (there are now 25 songs on the release) are just instrumentals, making the project fizzle out a bit. However, it is cool that everything they ever released (except demos and live stuff) is on this one disc. B
