"Art" can mean anything, of course, but here it's meaning anything that's painted, drawn, sculpted, etc. That kind of art. Something more 3-D than writing or movies or music. Along with music, this was one of Rusty's earliest interests, and for the entirety of his childhood he thought he would be an artists of some type, probably a cartoonist, as the main thing he liked to draw were cartoons.
